NetWin SurgeMail Blog Provides Easy Blog Creation and Team Collaboration.

Auckland, New Zealand, August 29, 2005 - NetWin Ltd., developer of advanced server software for Internet and Intranet providers, today released SurgeBlog 1.0. SurgeBlog 1.0 is included in NetWin's flagship product, SurgeMail, a full-featured, enterprise-class mail server. SurgeBlog is a high performance blog server that can be integrated with a user's email account. The new blog software provides customers with easy-to-use templates and other features that make creating a blog as easy as sending email. Maintaining the integrity of all NetWin products, SurgeBlog's feature rich structure meets the needs of small and medium sized businesses as well as providing a fully scalable solution for large enterprises.

"Adding blogs to SurgeMail is an insightful and forward thinking move," says Larry Airaghi, CEO of SpeedSpan.com. "As an email provider, I want a solid Message Transfer Agent like SurgeMail, but blogs are being demanded by people because it gives them new freedom for expression. Blogs are useful for team communications, and some businesses are experimenting in their use as an alternative to newsletters and mailing lists, and provide a new way to reach customers."

Blog Creation
Users can create one or more blogs within NetWin's WebEmail interface or from an account self management interface. A range of blog layout templates are provided and users can switch templates at any time without affecting the content of the blog, and can tailor the templates at various levels from simple to advanced. Messages are posted directly to the blog via email and posts can contain images and other attachments to create a more interesting and interactive online dialogue between bloggers.

"We see blogs as a natural extension of our move into groupware," says Ralph Pugmire, managing director at NetWin. "Businesses and ISPs require a high performance core for their communications systems and SurgeMail provides that core through email, blogs, web calendars, and file and photo sharing. We will continue to add key services while maintaining the integrated quality of our core products. The addition of SurgeBlog allows relatively small groups to set up blogging sites as well as enable large enterprises to use blogs for team communication and customer service."

"The blog addition to SurgeMail is easy to use with templates, directory structures, integration with mirroring, and an admin interface," adds Airaghi. "I want this tool integrated into what my users are already familiar with. The SurgeMail blog has a built-in RSS feed which is the hook to syndication. My early testers love it."

Blog Management
SurgeBlog provides a Web post interface, a management interface and a comments interface to enable the blog's creator to monitor content and remove anything that might be offensive or inappropriate. Through SurgeBlog's Team System, the user can define various permission and security settings and add 'team members' who can also post or configure the blog. Teams can have the ability to only view postings, post and slightly modify the blog or be given full management capabilities. At any time, the blog can be regenerated with a new template set. Automated management features include automatic archiving, visit counting, and comment structure. There is also no template parsing when viewing the blog, which provides high performance and low impact viewing.
